about

Footwork from the Surinamese Slums...

2013 brings new release from Good Street Records. This one, from Surinamese producer J(ay).A.D, shows the evolution of the footwork sound. Moving away from, but still paying homage to, the Chicago innovators, The Ghetto EP shows off an emerging footwork/juke producer, while gives a hint of where the footwork genre is moving to.
Produced while J(ay).A.D lived in the slums of Paramaribo, Suriname, each track tells a story of people that he knew. Either to dance to, nod your head to or meditate to, this is the sound of 2013.
